Tribe Moves into Phase II of COVID-19 Reopening Plan

Shawnee tribal leadership has operated out of an abundance of caution throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Since returning to on-site work, the tribe has coordinated with Northeastern Tribal Health Systems to ensure that vaccinations be made available to all Shawnee Tribe staff members, their household members, as well as Shawnee elders and their spouses.

“Although we are hopeful the vaccine will help protect our staff, citizens, and guests from the coronavirus, we must continue to strictly adhere to policy and follow CDC guidelines,” says Cassie Harper, Executive Director of Tribal Operations.

Beginning this Thursday, April 15, 2021, tribal offices and facilities will be moving into Phase II of the Tribal Reopening Amidst COVID-19 Safely (TRACS) policy.

Highlights of TRACS Phase II:

  • Single visitor access to Shawnee Tribe facilities is permitted – masks and temperature screenings will be required.
  • Travel restrictions for employees have been slightly loosened.
  • The Shawnee Tribe Cultural Center will remain closed to the public until further notice.
